About Me

My name is Emily Simpson and I am a photographer and graphic designer. I  recently graduated from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul in Minnesota.

Sometimes, life is really messy and will change in a moment. Being that some of my strengths are consistency and responsibility, the unpredictable is something I have struggled with. Life doesn’t fit in a neat little box like I would always prefer. Whether I am capturing life through a lens or design, I am learning when a perfect alignment is best and when to just let life be in its purest form.

My interest in photography started in 8th grade. In 9th grade I entered a photo into an art contest and won first prize. I began to realize that I actually had some talent in this area. I began to pursue my interest and took 3 years of photography classes. Two of those classes were digital which really grew my love and knowledge for photography and the technical aspects of it. Some 16 year olds get a car for their birthday, but I received a digital SLR camera and loved it!

I love being able to document and record my memories through photos. It may not always be done on a daily basis, but having a camera around to snap photos of the important moments of life is what I love doing and brings me great satisfaction!

In regards to my subject matter, I love photographing people, but I am still looking to grow in my photography skills and what objects/subjects I photograph. Currently, I focus on individual portraits. I enjoy doing fun shoots and taking my subjects to different places to make their photos unique.

Please take a moment to take a look at my work. Contact me if you have any questions.
